Update from the editor

Times are changing, making connections and collaboration vital. The editorial team has just wrapped up an action-packed Business Leadership Month, which showcased award winning corporate climate initiatives, captured the key discussions at our flagship event – edie 24 – and delivered in-depth analysis on the shifting landscape of corporate target setting and delivery mechanisms. There’s been a lot of noise about the number of companies struggling to validate ambitious science-based targets and the latest indications about the use of carbon offsetting only add to the confusion that sustainability professionals are grappling with. edie Membership is about turning climate ambitions and guidance into tangible, leading sustainability actions, cutting through the noise to connect sustainability professionals with the latest advice and insight to help make a difference. Our latest Sustainable Business Tracker Report serves to highlight just how much corporate action hinges on collective action and policy reforms, against an immensely challenging backdrop. The next month or so is all about regrouping, reflecting and reconnecting as a community to discuss how our network of members plan can set and deliver toward robust, transparent and leading targets that will showcase that businesses can be a force for good. We’ll be meeting up virtually next week (16.04.24) to reflect on the latest advice and guidance from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and share some learnings on how to deliver long-term, but agile and flexible climate action plans. Thanks for being a loyal edie Member, together I believe we can begin to really shift the dial on sustainability and net-zero over the next couple of months.
